Techart PRO Autofocus Adapter for Sony E-Mount Lens to Nikon Z-Mount Camera (V2)
Techart PRO TZE-02 Overview
The new Sony E - Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter is the latest groundbreaking product brought by Techart. We take advantage of the 2mm difference in flange distance between Sony E and Nikon Z mount and developed an ultra-thin adapter to convert the lenses in Sony E mount into Nikon Z. Techart also manage to incorporate a CPU chip into this tiny space which can 'translate' the protocol of Sony to Nikon so that the AUTOFOCUS, AUTO-APERTURE and LENS STABILISATION functions can all be retained.
Both AF-S, AF-C and MF mode will work on the Nikon Z6/Z7. Face and Eye detection, EXIF reading, Timelapse function can also be supported. Phase-detect AF is used and therefore the AF speed is on par with using native Z mount lenses on the cameras. Firmware is upgradable via separate lens dock (Included for FREE). TZE-01 does NOT work with Z50.

Great solution, flaky performance.
This is a wonderful interface for access to many Sony lenses. I bought this to be able to use the Sony 14 mm f//1.8 lens on my Nikon Z6II for night photography, when that extra 1.3 stop of light makes a huge difference (astro-landscape photography). Mechanically, this works well, with a restriction that you cannot leave it on the camera. Once installed, you have to remove the lens with adapter from the camera, then you can remove the adapter from the lens. Firmware is an issue, though. The company does not appear to update it often. The latest update (in November 2021) is from April and the latest Nikon firmware update 1.3 for the Z6ii breaks the functionality of this adapter. I had to downgrade to 1.2 to make it work again. For the price, I expect something that works without flaws and is updated as soon as Nikon updates firmware. Even with that combination, the camera occasionally gives me an error and that doesn't go away until I unmount the lens with adapter, then remount it again. Other than that, it works as advertised, with auto-focus and everything else.
